Walk the Isle of Man 2019 proves a Walkers Delight!

Mon, 07 Oct 2019

They say all good things must come to an end.

That certainly applies to Walk the Isle of Man 2019 which, after a week of great walking, reached a fitting conclusion at last Friday night’s farewell reception, held at the Ascot Hotel in Douglas.

During the five day feast of foot stomping, around 100 walkers were taken on a fascinating round of wonderful guided walks across all parts of our scenic Island. The carefully selected routes our guests encountered were of varying length and terrain; traversing the fells, exploring the spectacular coastline, taking in the countryside and delving deep down into our picturesque glens.

In total, 25 different walks were staged throughout the week and, despite the weather’s best efforts to intervene (with enough rainfall on one day to make the national news!), it failed to dampen spirits.

Personally, I’d like to thank everyone who participated. The majority of those who took part were venturing to the Isle of Man for the first time. I know some people travelled considerable distances to be here – even from as far afield as Canada and the West Coast of the United States. From the feedback we received, they were all greatly enjoyed. As always, this magnificent Island did its best to impress and, along the way, new friendships were forged. Good for the spirit, good for the soul!

We really appreciate the kind comments about how well organised the event was. As organisers, we’ve learnt a huge amount from this year and, rest assured, we’ll be looking to build on this. This brings us neatly on to next year’s event. Not that any of you will be looking to pack your walking boots away, but we are already thinking ahead to Walk the Isle of Man 2020.

I know that many of those who travelled here for Walk the Isle of Man 2019 are planning to return. Not surprisingly, given the success of this year’s event, we are expecting even greater numbers next time around. So if you and your walking buddies are up for another five days of exploring the great Isle of Man outdoors, don’t delay! We’re ready to take your booking right away!

On behalf of all the team at Isle of Man Events and Go-Mann Adventures, Andrew and I would just like to say that it was an absolute pleasure to host you all. Come back soon! We look forward to seeing you again next year, for Walk the Isle of 2020.
