Be part of this unique and formidable cycling event that’ll take you from one end of the Island to the other.
10th September 2017
Billed as Europe’s biggest and best single day mountain bike event, this September sees the 18th edition of the Manx Telecom End2End Challenge 2016.
This unique race, which now attracts around 2000 cyclists, covers a formidable 75km route from one end of the Island to the other – but not in a straight line or on an altogether flat surface!
The course incorporates a mix of gruelling climbs, moorland paths, country lanes, fast roads and forest single tracks. The organisers are always looking to improve the race wherever they can. This year they’ve introduced a gridded start that will see riders roll out in organised waves and they’ve brought in a revised route which takes the riders dramatically up on to heather clad moors, before rejoining its more familiar journey along designated forest trails.
There’s also a dramatic seaside finale in the pictureque resort of Port Erin, involving a sweeping descent from the cliff tops at Mount Bradda, before riders can finally climb off their bikes at the finish line under the archway alongside the world famous Bushys Pub.
Be a Team Player
Greater emphasis is also being given to the team competition, which is open to any team of four, who might want to experience End2End but don’t individually have the staying power to last the full distance.
Choosing the rider most suited to each of the sections is now part of the fun of competing as a foursome. Corporate or fun teams are encouraged – and there’s always the incentive of a healthy prize list!
As always, riders of all abilities are welcomed and for anyone looking to complete the entire circuit, the End2End normally takes anything from three to six hours to complete.
