Walk 1. Glens, Cairns and Coastlines – A walk in the East of the Island with so much interest including a visit to one of the most picturesque of our National Glens, 4000 year old Chambered Tomb, Neolithic burial cairn, a secret explosives factory, stunning mountains views and a dramatic coastline.
Approx 7.5 miles with 1000ft of accent and about 4 hours walking in total (grade moderate at a leisurely pace)
Walk 2. A Castle, Folly and Interment Camps – A walk in the West of the Island with spectacular views along the Coastline, Viking Castle and a trip to the site of the WWI Knockaloe Internment Camp. A walk that includes a tour around the pretty fishing town of Peel and finishing with an ice cream at the Island’s most famous ice cream parlour (or a cup of tea and hot pudding as its winter).
Approx 5.5 miles with 800ft of accent and about 3.5 hours walking in total (grade moderate at a leisurely pace)
Walk 3. In search of Wallabies – A walk that visits the RAMSAR wetland site of the Curraghs with its population of wild Red Neck Wallabies! Take a walk with Ken who will explain all about the natural history of the area and spend a couple of hours walking through the Curraghs, as Ken will spot some of these fun and bouncing locals before we walk back to the village of Sulby.
Approx 6.5 miles with 64ft of accent and about 4.5 hours walking in total (grade leisurely)
Walk 4. The Southwest Coast Path – One of the best stretches of Coastal Walking in the British Isles with a route that takes us from Port St Mary to Port Erin. This route has a little bit of everything with stunning geology, dramatic cliff tops, Neolithic History and lots of wildlife along the route.
Approx 7.5 miles with 1500 ft of accent and about 5 hours walking in total (grade moderate)
If conditions permit, then Ken will also offer a Night Walk to view the amazing night sky – The island is one of the best places in the British Isles for its dark skies and Ken often takes groups out to view the Manx landscape at night.
